The whine of the engine, the thrill of the race, and plumes of dust flying everywhere – it’s a dirt bike race and it’s so exciting! But what are dirt bikes and where do they come from? What makes them different from street-legal motorcycles and why do the boys go crazy for them?

Dirt bikes are as old as motorcycles themselves. The first motorcycles were just bicycles with an internal combustion engine attached to the wheels to make them turn. This was not so complicated as making the first cars and trucks. While some people began to specialize motorcycles to follow roads, others continued to make motorbikes meant for use on roads and out in the fields. It was just necessity and choice that made the difference.

A motorcycle has to be ’street legal’. That means it has to have license plates, lights, a horn and other things that make it safe for it to ride around lots of people. Of course a helmet is a necessity, even in places where it isn’t required by law. Dirt bikes however don’t have the legal requirements.

It’s not that hard to turn a dirt bike into a street legal machine. With a few attachments, dirt bikes can easily adapt to the streets. That’s an important thing to be able to do, since they are so popular. But it’s the things that can’t be changed or rather, won’t be changed that appeal to the real dirt bike enthusiasts.

Suspension on a vehicle is very important. It’s what makes the ride smooth and keeps the engine and other important parts of a vehicle from bouncing right out of the frame. Motorcycles are made for going on gentler terrain than dirt bikes, so the suspension is going to be different. There is more bounce and difficult terrain for dirt bikes than there should be for a typical motorcycle. Suspension on a dirt bike is very important.

In general dirt bikes have little bodywork done on them and have a simple and almost rugged construction to them. They require a good deal of ground clearance, because of the different types of terrain they are expected to travel through. This is what explains how very different motorcycles and motocross bikes look compared to each other. One is meant for leisure, for giving the rider a pleasant experience. The other is meant to endure a good beating and workout, which can often include falling, rolling over and regular parts replacement.

The different types of sports that dirt bikes are used in are all equally dangerous and thrilling. Rally bikes will have larger fuel tanks because they are long distance races through deserts or other difficult terrain. Motocross bikes will not have lights or indicator instruments and again, suspension is everything because these racers will be asked to jump their bikes again and again. Trial races push a biker’s ability to ride with style, while track racing expects bikers to push the limits of speed.

In the eyes of those who eagerly watch all sorts of dirt bike sports, the people who ride dirt bikes are crazy daredevil thrill seekers with little care in the world. Of course, the riders are typically well geared in padded leather and hardy helmets, so little harm comes to them in the end. People who ride motorcycles can be compared to those who ride dirt bikes, but like the vehicles of their choosing, there are also important differences.

Are you looking for a great hobby? Look into buying a dirt bike for that hobby. There are many types of dirt bikes to look at online. Head online now and find out more.

Its a place you go to when you only have one day off and want to reward yourself for a job well done. Something about this place makes it worth going those extra miles for a Burger and a Beer!

If you live in the Long Island, New York area then you have probably been to “The Maples” 10 Ryerson Ave in Manorville, If not with all the great routes you can ride to get there, sooner or later I’m sure you will find yourself parking your bike in front!

The Maples draws in every type of Rider, It does not matter what you Ride, how long you have been Riding or how often you chose to Ride! When you are at the Maples you are home!

At the Maples it feels as if time is not only standing still ,but you may feel as if you have traveled back in time a few years! Even though the Maples is only about a mile North of exit 70 off the LIE you will feel like the stress of your life is a Million miles away! Relaxing at the Maples is an easy thing to do.

Inside you can hang out at the main Bar, shoot a game of Pool or enjoy some of their great food in the large dinning area. Maybe you are more like me and after a nice Ride you enjoy relaxing out side.Well at the Maples you can relax on the huge side deck,Where if you are a fan of Trains you can enjoy the view of the Trains slowly rolling by as if out of a scene from a Norman Rockwell Painting!

Then there is the Huge back deck where there is a full service Bar, Jukebox, Pool table and more often then not a live band! Many Couples like to unwind over by the Perfectly landscaped Pond or walk around the huge backyard!

As the Maples is a Biker friendly bar you will find that many bike events are held there! After a trip to “the Maples” You will understand why many call it the Best Biker Bar in the Northeast and say that a day at the maples is more relaxing then a weekend trip upstate!

I have felt and been a part of Biker Brotherhood almost all of my life. Growing up around My Father (Freelance Author on the Biker Lifestyle Pappy) and my Uncle Trey, I was taught what Biker Brotherhood was about from a very young age. As I grew up I heard many stories about the fun had at Parties, Runs and Rallies.

I also heard about protests (Mostly Helmet) I heard how Bikers were the last of the true Americans. I was taught Bikers believe in Freedom and are willing to fight for it at all costs! As I got older I attended many events and I rode allot.

I became active in Motorcycle Rights groups (mostly ABATE of NY) and I did my part to protect and promote the Biker Lifestyle, I wrote many articles in Biker Magazines and I DJed and MCed many Bike events helping to spread the word of Biker Rights.

In March of 2005 I became a Member of the Mortal Skulls MC and not long after I felt what it meant to be a part of a Motorcycle Club Brotherhood. I also got to know and learn from many members of other MC’s. The more I learned and the better I got to know these Men (the world referred to as 1%ers and Outlaws) the more I realized most of these people were the best people in the world, These are the Men who made and continue to make America great! I had heard many negative things about Motorcycle Clubs over the years and the more I was grew apart of the MC life the more I realized something needed to be done.

So my focus shifted from covering parties in Magazines to writing about true Biker Brotherhood. I realized one of the things negatively effecting the Motorcycle World is no one was teaching the younger generation of Motorcycle riders what it really means to be a Biker. The rules and codes of the road where all being lost, TV Show and Docudramas where teaching a Biker History that had no basis in reality. To this day I continue look up and write down as much truth of the history of Motorcycles and the Motorcycle Club world as I can.

I was getting the word out but I wanted a way to be able to speak to Bikers so they could hear my words and feel them expressed as they came from my heart! I knew I wanted to do some kind of Biker Talk Radio Show to help get the message out there. Every radio station I spoke with was either not interested or wanted some huge amount of money up front .

One day I learned about internet Radio! I learned I could do a live show that could be heard world wide on every computer and also all the shows would be archived so they could be heard anytime from the beginning just by clicking on them. I soon started a weekly show about a half hour long each Wednesday coming up with the name “The Biker Lowdown” The show started with just me talking to people about different things going on in the Motorcycle World.

Not long after the show started I was getting weekly calls from this Guy Chuck who called himself the Alpha Biker, Checking his webpage out I quickly learned both me and Chuck were cut from the same cloth and He became the Co-host of the Biker Lowdown.

Soon after thanks to the on air Chemistry and the great radio banter between me and Chuck the show started taking off. My good friend Bjorn took over as the online webmaster creating a webpage all could be proud of.

Hammerin Hank soon joined the Biker Lowdown clan as our Research Reporter. Things just kept getting better for the show.We started getting many great guests and even a few really big names of the Motorcycle world.

When Brenda Fox came on the show one night for an interview to talk about the world of Women’s Motorcycling, some where about five Minutes into the interview We all just knew We had a new member of the Biker Lowdown Family! I look forward to seeing what the Future brings for the Biker Lowdown Radio Show,

But for now I am Your Bro LJ James and I will see you on the Road!!!

LJ James hosts a online Motorcycle Show every Wednesday LJ James likes to help show the truth about the Biker Brotherhood and series like Sons of Anarchy Get a totally unique version of this article from our article submission service

It’s easy to show your interests and personality these days, even when it comes to your bank checks. If you take a look at any website that sells checks you will find hundreds of themes available to choose from. From animals to landscapes, it’s possible to find images that suit any personality. If it’s motorcycles you’re into, there’s a variety of themes to be found.

With gasoline being high these days, motorcycles are widely being used for their fuel efficiency. Higher miles per gallon can be achieved when driving small motorcycles. In countries like Vietnam, motorcycles have become the most popular form of transport, partly due to the fact that they take up less space on the road. They are also more economical in London, England, since they are not charged the city congestion fee.

Motorcycles can hold different meanings for different people. These individual interests can be shown on your checks. You don’t just have to ride a Harley to be a motorcycle fan!

However, if you ride a Harley, you pretty much have a wide array of choices for your motorcycle checks. Since Harley-Davidsons first came onto the scene in Milwaukee in 1903, they have inspired a bevy of loyal customers. Their logo-inspired merchandise alone accounts for 5% of their annual sales. Whether you drive a Sportser, a Dyna, or a Softail, it is fairly easy to find Harley themed personal checks that fit your style. Some companies even offer checkbook covers that match the motorcycle checks.

If you’re on the police force, you might also want to have checks with motorcycle images. Many forces use motorcycles as forms of transport. It is possible to find personal checks with images of police officer’s service to their community, motorcycle in tow.

Classic motorcycles, like the Indian, can be symbols of Americana and our love of freedom. Motorcycles are often associated with personal expression and the open road. Few things speak of freedom as much as racing down the highway with the windbeating at your back. You can generally find checks with images of classic motorcycles, the bald eagle, and the American flag. These are all popular on patriotic themed checks.

Adventure and speed are most frequently connected to motorcycles, of course. For intense competitions, street bikes can be used for track races. Some personal check images contain pictures of drag racing and dirt bikes. To those people that enjoy going to the races, racing can be an art form and a way of life.

Personalizing your checks with images of your passion for motorcycles can be excellent way to show off your interests. If you are in the motorcycle business, it can also be used for marketing purposes. Otherwise plain checks are made more personal with images and are memorable.

If you order your motorcycle checks online, rather than at your local bank, you can generally save 50%. It’s also easier to search for themes that you want, as well as to look at hundreds of images.

I wrote an article a while back called “Why speak to the Motorcycle Clubs in your area before starting a new MC?” It was about why those wishing to start new Motorcycle Clubs should go and speak to those who have come before them. If you have not read the article look it up on my March 2009 archive page on NY-Biker.com

Since then, I’ve begun seeing and hearing some things that worry me. I have seen many groups popping up. Some of these groups have names like Lone Wolf or Independent Riders. While I suppose the names are meant to distance these groups from real motorcycle clubs, they still resemble legitimate clubs in the way they dress, and to a certain degree, the way they act.

Now I am sure some of you are saying “hey LJ these guys just want to do their own thing back off a bit, what really is the harm in what these guys are doing?” Well that’s the Million dollar Question! Exactly what is the real harm? Let me see if I can explain how I see it.

If you put on a uniform, pinned on a badge and hung out at Dunkin Donuts you may look like and act like a cop but you would not be a real cop. When a real cop saw you, You would probaly be in a lot of trouble!

Now due to High Gas Prices, The Economy, and people waking up to the fact that riding a Motorcycle is one of the Greatest things in the world, the ranks of motorcycle riders have exploded. Many of these new riders see shows like Sons Of Anarchy, Gangland or movies like Hell Ride and think, “This is cool, I’m going to start a Club” even though they know nothing about Motorcycle Clubs or the Biker lifestyle.

Shows like Sons of Anarchy are a fictional dramatization of what a group of television writers think a Motorcycle Club is. Programs like Gangland claim to investigate 1%er Clubs. Their “investigation consists of looking up every little Crime members of a 30 year old Motorcycle Club have ever been accused of and then Squeeze all the Negative info about the MC into about 45 Minutes of air time.

The concern is that you have new and independent riders forming “Clubs” with no real knowledge of what it means to be a member of a Motorcycle Club. Some of these clubs are forming with only shows like SOA and Gangland as the model for what a Motorcycle Club should be.

Being a member of a Motorcycle Club is about Brotherhood, Loyalty, Respect, Freedom, and Honor. It’s not about Drugs, Guns, and Biker Wars.

In the Motorcycle Club world you start off as either a prospect for an established Motorcycle Club or your new MC starts off as a Supporter of a established MC and they help to teach you what it truly means to be a Member of a Motorcycle Club.

It’s like an artist taking on an apprentice and passing on what he has learned. The knowledge he passes on has been passed on down to him for Hundreds of Generations.

Now where the danger lies is the art being taught can be thousands of years old but, It only takes one generation of not passing the right information down and the art is lost forever!

With the creation of so many pseudo MC’s, We risk a danger a lot worse than losing the art of what a Motorcycle Club is all about , We risk watching the Mutation of the World We all Love turned into something as ugly as the negative, hyped up TV Shows and movies we’ve all seen.

If your thinking about starting a Motorcycle Club or want to join one, start by talking to local Club members you see at events or contact established Clubs directly. Every MC has its own set of rules, etc, but if you’re serious about becoming an MC or MC Member, you’ll have no problem finding the situation that is right for you. As I said in the beginning, I have no problem with people starting their own Clubs. It’s just that starting a Motorcycle Club is something that should be done the right way and not be taken lightly. Let us work together to Preserve the Heritage of the Motorcycle Club world and make it stronger, not destroy it.

on 9/11/01 America was scared. We had for only the 2nd time in our history, taken a real hit. This one was not a shot to the body like the one we had taken on December 7th, 1941. This was a Punch in the face. Our collective noses were bleeding. Americans were terrified. The whole country had been injured.

Then out of the smoke and darkness, our Government stepped forward and said sign this paper and We will keep you safe! Americans did not look at the paper because they were scared. Nobody thought of the consequences. All we wanted was to feel safe again. No one thought twice when President Bush signed into law The Patriot Act on October 26, 2001. The contrived acronym stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001.

Eventually the smoke cleared, we wiped the blood from our noses, and the fear subsided. We started getting back into our normal routines, although the horror of 9-11 had been permanently etched upon our minds, engraved into our souls.

In 2002, George W signed the “Homeland Security Act” and created the United States Department of Homeland Security. With 9-11 behind us, freedom loving Americans began to wonder if the US Government was using 9-11 as an excuse to infringe upon our constitutional rights. People began to question if, in our state of panic, we’d given away the very rights and freedoms that make America, America! When the Act was first signed, it was suppose to “sunset” by the year 2005. Instead, George W made the Act permanent by signing it into law in 2006.

Now the Government had virtually unlimited power to do whatever it wanted under the disguise of keeping us safe! In our moment of weakness, We had willingly signed away our constitutional right to privacy, our protections against illegal search and seizure? The law is very far reaching and has been criticized as being a threat to our most basic liberties

I just think about the hundreds of thousands of lives that have been sacrificed to protect the very rights the so called “Patriot Act” has taken away. Just the thought makes me sick. It’s an affront to every American Soldier who has fought, been injured, or died to protect these rights for all American Citizens.

Soon after the Act was signed into law, we began seeing the Government use these powers to monitor United States Citizen’s phone logs, Internet traffic records, and bank and credit information. The FBI and other Government Agencies are abusing their newly expanded powers to investigate US Citizens who may or may not be involved in Criminal Activity. In fact, there is solid evidence that certain departments of the US Government and law enforcement are actually using the powers granted to them to stop terrorism to actually “fish” for criminals. As time has passed, more and more groups and individuals are coming forward to complain about the abuses and to demand an end to the US Patriot Act. The governments continued response is, they need the powers to keep us safe.

On November 5, 2009 an Army Psychiatrist opens fire on an Army base killing 12 people and wounding 31. We later learn that the government had been monitoring this person and had knowledge that he was in communication with known terrorists, yet they elected to do nothing.

On December 25th 2009, a Man boarded a plane heading to Detroit tries to ignite a bomb. Luckily, he was stopped by passengers. Again, the Patriot Act did not ensure our safety.

Since the Patriot Act was signed into law, it’s obvious that even though We have given up our freedoms in the name of Safety, nothing had changed. We are no safer then we were on September 10th 2001. All that has Changed is we’ve lost the basic Freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

Today, it appears that the US Government is using the US Patriot Act as a way to ferret out would be criminals, but what about tomorrow? Since 2001, this great nation has been in constant “Crisis”. We had the Financial Crisis, Housing Crisis, Credit Crisis, and we are now in a Health Care Crisis. Seems like there is nothing better than a good Crisis to keep Americans from thinking about De-Industrialization, Inflation, the rise in fuel prices, Joblessness, and the coming consequences of our tremendous debt.

Does anyone remember the Terrorism threat of the late 60’s & 70’s? What about the Civil Rights Activists and Anti-War Activists? I bet if the Government had the technology and the powers they have today, they could have nipped those movements in the bud.

Has anyone ever seen a Homeland Security truck in their neighborhood? You know, the ones with about 20 antennas on them. Do you think there is a possibility that they are driving around your neighborhood eaves dropping on you and your neighbors conversations? Better watch what you say. You wouldn’t want them coming down on you for being some anti government zealot or terrorist for saying what you really think. I wouldn’t want to see you get arrested because you we’re planning on attending a “Tea Party”.

How many rights do we have to lose? How far will we watch this once great Nation fall until we finally say enough? We’re being swindled out of our Children’s futures by the Global Corporations and a corrupt US Government. When do we start to say enough is enough? The time has come for all Americans to stand up for the freedoms and rights that our forefathers fought for and many true Patriots died for. The simple truth is we are stronger and safer as a Free America then We will ever be as a Government/Corporate Controlled America !!!

Do yourself a favor, take a few minutes to read the Bill of Rights and the American Constitution. These are the documents that were crafted by our forefathers to protect us not from terrorism, but from our own government and to ensure that all Americans would enjoy the freedom they worked so hard for.Today, America is still a Free Country, One Nation Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for ALL. Standing on the principles of freedom against a Corrupt Government is Americas Foundation. It seems we’re at a cross roads. We can stand up for what we know to be right, to fight as our forefathers have or we can let America fall.

It begins with a letter to your elected officials. Electing independent candidates who aren’t part of the status quo. Pushing for campaign finance reform so that the Global Corporations don’t control our Government. Participating in Protests, Rally’s and National Strikes!!!

Do you remember the Story of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia? Carlie was the little girl from LI NY who while staying with her mother down in FL was kidnapped and murdered on Super Bowl Sunday, 2004. Her abduction was captured on video in front of the car wash where she was Kidnapped by Joseph P. Smith, who has since been found Guilty of first-degree murder, sexual battery and kidnapping.

The story was carried nation wide and was heartbreaking to all who heard it. Now there is an old saying that every dark cloud has a Silver lining and if that is true then the Silver lining here is Matt Barbis, Carlie’s Cousin who started the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation (http://rosebrucia.org) with the Mission of reducing child abductions.

Matt goes around to Schools and preforms Puppet Shows and teaches children how to react and what to do if someone ever tries to adduct them. As you can imagine Matt’s Mission does not come without its costs and the Foundation runs on Donations from Groups,Individuals and Businesses.

Matt who Rides a Motorcycle had seen the good that Bikers on Long Island do to Raise Money for those in need, He wanted to Start a Motorcycle Run to help raise Money for the Foundation. A Motorcycle Run is a lot of work and Matt was Referred to the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club (http://Mortalskulls.com) Who do a Run and/or Benefit every year.

When the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club heard Matt’s story and what his Mission was they quickly decided that this would be the run and benefit they would be doing for many years to come. What better cause can there be then keeping Children Safe? said one of the Members.

For the past 4 years now on a Sunday in June the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club have hosted the run and raised money for the foundation. The run starts every year at the Bellmore NY Train station on Sunrise Hwy, with sign up from 10:30am till 12pm, and has ended at local Long Island Bars with live Music, food, Appearances by local New York Celebrities and so much more. The recommended Donation for the event is $10 per person and Run Shirts are available for an additional $10 with every penny of the Proceeds going to the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation. The Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club Thank all who have come out to help and Support the event every year! This Fundraiser has quickly grown into a huge Long Island NY event, With the continued Support of the Long Island biker world and appearances by Celebrates it will continue to grow for many years to come!!!

I must admit I knew almost nothing of the Long Island Motor Parkway before this trip back but as I learned about its history and how it was a major part of shaping the Island we all know and love today, I became very interested in learning more and I would like to share with you a little of what I have learned.

The history of William K. Vanderbilt Jr’s Motor Parkway began on June 6th 1908 when its construction started. It was one of the first concrete roads in the Nation and it was the first to use Bridges and over passes so as to not have any intersections. The Motor parkway reached its almost full length of 45 miles from Queens to Lake Ronkonkoma in 1911 with 65 Bridges and many twists and turns.(There was a 2 and a Half mile western extension built in 1928)

The Motor Parkways History of racing is that of legend and still remembered by many Long Island race fans, William K.Vanderbilt Jr was an avid race fan and racer. He often raced in America and France. Disappointed by the lack of Americans winning any of the races he started the Vanderbilt Cup races in 1904 here on Long Island. The race was an international event and would pit 16 Drivers against each other for the prize of the $2000 Silver Cup which was designed by Tiffany & Co.The Cup was the first major trophy in American auto racing. The Races where first held on 30 miles of local roads in Nassau County. These Races where the Beginning of America’s love affair with auto racing. In 1906 when two spectators where killed and many others injured by a racing car on Jericho turnpike near the intersection of what is known today as NY Routes 106 and 107, Vanderbilt and friends soon came up with the idea for the Long Island Motor Parkway. The Cup Races where Successfully held on Long Island in conjunction with the Motor Parkway Until 1910 when four spectators where killed and twenty injured.

With the Cup races gone the Motor parkway became purely an access route with a toll of $2.00 and was used mostly by New York’s rich looking to hit the party circuit or to go for Sunday Drives and of course by those just looking to drive really fast. The Motor parkway was a privately owned toll road with no speed limit, No Commercial Traffic and because it was privately owned it was off limits to law enforcement. During Prohibition the Parkway gained a reputation as a rum runners road as bootleggers started using the road to transport alcohol. In 1917 the toll was lowered to $1.00 and when more Drivers started using the Motor Parkway to travel across Long Island the speed limit was reduced to 40 mph and local Police where aloud to begin patrolling the parkway to improve traffic safety. An estimated 150,000 cars per year used the Motor parkway at its prime. There where 12 toll lodges along the parkway and the toll lodges have a great story all their own. The Long Island Motor Parkway Continued on until Easter Sunday,April 16th 1938 when it was forced to close. The Motor Parkway even after reducing its toll again to only 40 cents was No longer able to Compete with Robert Moses State of the art Toll free Northern State Parkway. After its Closer the Motor Parkway was split up and sold off, Many of its Bridges destroyed and roads forgotten.Although some Remaining Sections of this Historic Parkway like the 13 Mile eastern most Section in Suffolk still remain in use Most of the Parkway and its History has gone forgotten until recent years.

Members of the Model A Ford Club of Long Island had known about a section of the Long Island Motor Parkway with one of its Bridges still standing hidden away behind Old Bethpage Village and Restoration on Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage Where the Club holds its Monthly meetings. For those of you who don’t know Old Bethpage Village and Restoration is a pre-Civil War Long Island Village with more than 55 historic buildings and a place where anyone of us can travel back in time for the day.I’m sure most of you out there from Long Island will remember it from field trips back in your School days.Well It is all still there with its same historic Magic and those old fashion Sodas and Candies you remember. I have found Old Bethpage to be the perfect place for a first Date! It will not only take you back threw time but it will make you feel like a Kid all over again. In the early Months of 2007 the members of the Model A Ford Club of Long Island started Clearing away what time and neglect had covered up. Then in May 2007 after much hard work the Members of the Model A Ford Club of Long Island got together at Old Bethpage Village and Restoration and took the first Cruise since its closing on their own private piece of the Motor Parkway and Long Islands History. Mark Adler and his 1931 Model A Coop had the Honor of leading the Group and being the first the travel on it! Long Island has some great History and We must always remember We need to save our Historic Buildings and Land marks!!!

For more info about this article go to the Model A Ford Club of Long Island’s webpage at www.freewebs.com/modela

While researching this story one thing that kept coming to my mind was that if Long Island is one of the first place’s where Auto Racing in the US began then doesn’t that mean that Auto Racing really needs to stay here? Lets reclaim the Glory!!!

In the Heart of the New York Catskill Mountains, there is a place called Nicks Waterfall House. I have been there many times and it has become one of my favorite places of all time to ride to.

In the Heart of the New York Catskill Mountains, there is a place called Nicks Waterfall House. I have been there many times and it has become one of my favorite places of all time to ride to.

There are times when the stress of our lives and jobs can get even the best of us a little down. If you are a straight lace citizen you go to a Doctor and get some pills or maybe see a shrink. If you are a Biker you hop on your Motorcycle get the motor running and you head out to a place like Nicks Waterfall House.

It does not matter where you are or what direction you come from. The ride threw the NY Catskill Mountains is going to relax the stress away from the depths of your very soul. As you ride to Nick’s threw long winding roads up over and into the heart of some of the worlds most majestic Mountains, with the Sun shining down on you and the fresh Mountain air filling your lungs you will start to get a feeling of what one can only describe as pure joy.

As you get near Nicks Waterfall House located on Route 990v, Gilboa New York 12076, either alone or with a group of friends. You will feel as if time and space are no longer a factor in the Universe, and it only gets better from there! As you ride in the first thing many think is they have reached some old time lost resort, but have no fear Nicks is a Biker bar.

When you walk threw the front door you will no longer have any doubts you have arrived at the right place. If Nick is not there to great you himself, there is a good chance he is in his large kitchen cooking up some classic Biker grub. I recommend the first thing you do is order an Ice Cold Beer and go sit by the large windows over looking a Waterfall that looks as if it was stolen from the year–92. If there is any stress or negative emotions left in your body after the ride to the Waterfall House after only a few minutes watching the water fall down and roll over the rocks it will soon have all washed down stream.

Then it is time to meet the locals, grab another Beer and maybe some of that great food (My favorite is the Waterfall House Cheeseburgers) or maybe shoot a game of pool. The crowd at Nicks is a mix of friendly Bikers, locals and good ole boys. This is a place to exchange stories and Adventures from the road. Often the sharing of stories can go on for hours.

It is easy to have what some may call too much fun at Nicks Waterfall House but with rooms up stairs starting at only $25 a night, there is no reason to worry! Now I want to make sure that you know when I tell you there are rooms at Nicks you understand these rooms where created for road weary bikers. If you bring your old lady with you make sure she is a real biker Chick because Nicks is no Yuppie bed and breakfast! It is a real bikers, biker bar and what you get when you rent a room from Nicks is a communal living room a bed to sleep in and a shower to wash off the road dust! One other thing you get from a night at Nicks is a renewed Spirit of Adventure and a willingness to face what ever maybe up around the next bend in your life!

I have many local Bars that I think of as home and I love to go to and cut loose, but when I hear that call of the road it is often telling me it is time to go to Nick’s Waterfall House!!!

For more info or directs call 607-588-9891 and ask for Nick.
